ISDAAN FLOATING RESTAURANT - CALAUAN, LAGUNA

The Isdaan Floating Restaurant in Gerona, Tarlac has enjoyed many great reviews. It has been a favorite pitstop of "biyaheros" from north going back to Manila. This is owned and operated by the Barrio Fiesta group of restaurants, so they say the food is delicious (sorry but I have not experienced Barrio Fiesta because it does not have a branch from where I come from :)).. The concept of the restaurant is Buddhist with giant statues of mermaids, buddha, and animals, linked with Filipino food.

People down south can now enjoy the same food and experience. Isdaan has now a branch located in Brgy. Hanggan, Calauan, Laguna which is approximately 2hours away from Metro Manila. They have the same set of menus, concept, and amenities (like the Tacsyapo wall, giant statues, and statues of well-known personalities). The place is recommended for Balikbayans to feel the atmosphere of Filipino setting after living away from motherland.

Floating huts

We positioned ourselves in one of the floating nipa huts (not recommended for those with vertigo or motion sickness :)) and ordered the Seafood platter, which comes with three different sauces, and Bulalo. The rice comes in small "kalderos". The price is reasonable enough for the pocket :)

Bulalo with the big bone. Yum!

While we were finishing our meal, a band of singing cooks and waiters approached us and started singing an OPM. The voice was soothing, and we have to give them some pesos just to send them away (well, it's ok as long as it helps them :D)...
